A number of our apprentices have gone on to develop successful careers in the sector.
Community Activator Coach – Level 2 Apprenticeship
The standard has been designed by a number of key organisations including British Cycling & Sport England and prepares candidates for a career in the sports sector. The Apprenticeship is ideal for people in occupations such as Activator, Sports Coach, Activity Leader, Community Worker or Outreach Officer.
The aim of the qualification is to teach learners how to lead and coach fun, inclusive and engaging activities that help people of all ages to change their behaviour and adopt and maintain a physically active lifestyle.
Apprentices will learn how to plan & adapt sessions and activities and how to work with sports clubs and other community organisations. They will also learn how to support customers to produce volunteering opportunities and help families to participate together in sport.
The qualification will be delivered through a combination of classroom workshops and practical sessions with learners further supported with access to Mitre’s Digital Online Portal. The qualification will be further enhanced through guest speakers and a residential at an outdoor education centre.
"The Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership enables our staff to combine their education with their love of sport - a great combination" Simon Carnall - Head of Community, Derby County Community Trust
Learners who complete the apprenticeship will automatically be given Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) at Associate Membership Level.

Next steps for Learners/Students: As a training provider we do not recruit apprentices; we are responsible for teaching and assessing once employment has been found within an organisation. National Apprenticeship Vacancies can be found at GOV.UK. Check out our social media pages to see Mitre's current collaborations with professional clubs looking for learners.
