Designed by key organisations in the sector including British Cycling and Sport England, this apprenticeship is ideal for those starting out on their coaching careers, whether that is as an Activator, Sports Coach, Activity Leader, Community Worker or Outreach Officer.

About this programme
A community activator coach will be a confident and vibrant individual, who will be skilled in leading fun, inclusive and engaging activities that encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to change their behaviour and adopt and maintain a physically active lifestyle. The springboard to achieving this success, is to embark on the apprenticeship training pathway to becoming a professional sports coach, via the Community Activator Coach Professional Apprenticeship programme.
Upon completion of the course they’ll develop into so much more than activity and sports leaders; they'll understand their local communities and have the ability to respond to individual needs. They’ll be an extremely positive role model who is equipped with the specialist knowledge needed to effectively work with one customer group (such as inactive teenagers), but also be knowledgeable about various other customer groups whom they may be expected to work with. By nature they’ll be extremely agile in their approach.
The Community Activator Coach often works alongside youth workers, the police and community safety agencies to make neighbourhoods safer, and residents fitter and healthier.
The qualification is professionally recognised by CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity).
