Funded Safety Training
At Mitre, we're super excited that the West Midlands will be hosting the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, 2022. We're playing our small part in the games by delivering fully funded Spectator Safety training to residents across the West Midlands, ready for employment opportunities as stewards at the Games.
In partnership with the WMCA, eligible candidates can access free training in spectator safety and first aid with Mitre with guaranteed interviews with employers of stewards for the Games.
This is a fantastic opportunity for West Midlands residents to gain valuable skills and qualifications leading to roles at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
What you'll need to be a Steward at the Commonwealth Games
As a Steward, you're role will involve being on the ground at some of the major events taking place at the Commonwealth Games. You'll have a direct role in the safety and security of spectators, competitors and other stakeholders, whilst being ready to respond to any incidents or emergencies.
To prepare new Stewards, Mitre group are offering the following qualifications free of charge to eligible residents in the West Midlands:
Level 2 Spectator Safety Certificate
Level 3 Emergency First Aid in the Workplace
Who is eligible to take part?
To complete the stewarding programme, candidates must be:
Be a resident within a WMCA postcode (check here)
Have turned 19 before 31st August 2020
Be unemployed, in receipt of benefits or earning less than £18,135 per year*
