Mitre receives glowing Ofsted Report

We are thrilled to welcome the publication of Mitre Group’s latest Ofsted report which rated us ‘good’ across the board, from the effectiveness of our leadership and management, to the quality of our teaching and assessment, as well as safeguarding, welfare and outcomes for learners.

A team of inspectors from Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills) spent a week in March closely examining the work we do, talking to members of our team, client organisations, as well as many of our learners, to get a full view of our performance. The glowing report found Mitre’s learners and apprentices receive “high-quality teaching” from our “well-qualified and experienced” tutors leading to good progress and personal development.  The inspectors praised how “highly-motivated” Mitre’s learners are to achieve in employment, using “valuable skills in customer service, employability, coaching, exercise and nutrition.” They also noted how “well prepared” apprentices are to continue their employment as sports coaches and physical education teaching assistants in schools.  Jennie Bowmer, Managing Director, Mitre Group: “We are so pleased with the outcome of the inspection, it reflects the hard work and dedication of our team at all levels of the business, as well as the achievements of our learners and apprentices right across the country.  We pride ourselves on delivering excellent, specialised training within some of the UK’s leading sports clubs and community enterprises. The report demonstrates that the learners we work with are achieving fantastic outcomes within the world of work as a result of our programmes.” At Mitre we work incredibly hard to create programmes for our clients, which include many of the UK’s top football, cricket and rugby clubs, to support their staff and communities. This report recognises that our programmes are having a real impact within those organisations – strengthening their workforce and building strong links within the community. Simon Carnall, Head of Community at Derby County Community Trust said “We have worked with Mitre for a number of years and have first-hand experience of their expertise in delivering amazing results for learners enrolled on their courses and apprenticeship programmes. Mitre's tutors really get to know the apprentices, working closely with them to support them and carefully monitor progress. The tutors are enthusiastic, well-prepared and set high expectations for their students, helping them to broaden their horizons and reach their goals with confidence.” Read the full report here.
